The carafe strainer has a flawed design, that renders the whole idea of this contraption useless.Firstly the strainer has long slits that are not fine. Unless you are adding large tea leaves, all ingredients will spill through. Secondly the strainer does not fit snugly to the cap, so when you pour tea, you will end up with all ingredients falling through. So, the only way to then use it is to have a bowl/saucer on the side, and remove the lid when pouring yourself tea. Very very cumbersome.

I am about to procure one. I guess all those who are finding the strainer faulty with tea passing out of the strainer, may be using short/small leaf tea. This design seems to be for long leaf tea viz. darjeeling tea - teas that are delicate and need not be brewed on flame rather (like Darjeeling tea) which just needs to be soaked in just boiled water for 5 minutes or so.
