I had been on the lookout for a cloche or a tagine for baking, because I had read somewhere that it turns out really good looking rustic bread or even sourdough bread. Finally found it on amazon. Grabbed it as soon as I could. The pictures show an excellent bake. It is quite big. It can take a bigger loaf. That will be my next bake with this implement. The cast iron bottom and the ceramic top work well. The cast iron bottom does not look as shiny as a Lodge cast iron pan, but it serves the purpose, I guess.

In the typical tajine pot the cover’s inside surface is supposed to be porous, and outside surface glazed.However I found that in the Urban Platter Tajine pot , both the inside and outside surface of the lid are glazed. It is well built , yet whereas a typical tajine pot will give the food smoky effect , I don’t find so in this one.

The tagine is of a good size and is very sturdy with even distribution of heat. And the red lid funnels the steam into whatever is cooking underneath. Looks great on the table too!!
