I've used brown rice before bought locally. This specific brand though it's really hard to cook. I kept it soaked in water for 2 hours and even after that it didn't soften while cooking.

I cook brown rice after soaking it overnight in water. Discard the water used for soaking! This, in my opinion is the BEST WAY TO COOK BROWN RICE.
